Secondly, analyzing the characteristics of the U.S. intervention under Plan Colombia and, fi nally, deriving some lessons from that intervention in the Colombian case, aiming to advance in the understanding of the transformations of international intervention in the context of globalization.

Keywords : international intervention; Plan Colombia; global politics; Colombia-United States relationships.
