Abstract

MAGLIANO, María José  and  CLAVIJO, Janneth. Human trafficking in the sout american migratory legal agenda: Securitization of the migratory debate. anal.polit. [online]. 2011, vol.24, n.71, pp.149-163. ISSN 0121-4705.

This work procures the bringing into debate, from a critical perspective, of the way in which the talk on human trafficking becomes a part of the migratory political agenda in the South American region, and the political and ideological sequels of such involvement. We take for granted that the ways to conceive human trafficking in the regional migratory political sphere does not fall apart from the postulates of control and security underlying the design of that agenda, reconfiguring and legitimating a conception of migrations as a "problem" and "threat". This study is based on a qualitative methodology based in the analysis of documents produced by different global and regional political actors, and public participations of government officials in events related with international migrations.

Keywords : Human trafficking; migrations; securitization; governance; political agenda.
