Abstract

LLANOS R, Claudio  and  LANFRANCO, María Fernanda. PROBLEMS OF THE BRITISH WELFARE STATE IN THE HISTORY OF THE PRESENT. AN APPROXIMATION TO THE PATH OF REDUCTION OF THE WELFARE STATE. anal.polit. [online]. 2011, vol.24, n.73, pp.79-96. ISSN 0121-4705.

The central problem of this paper is the process of change experienced by the welfare state in Britain in recent decades. We seek for an historical approach to the development path of the British welfare state, particularly to the progressive reduction has faced in recent decades. In the British case, the establishment and development of the welfare state since the 1940's until the first decade of the century, presents an historical development that allows us to observe both the context in which this model of state arises, as its gradual reduction and the resistance that it has generated.

Keywords : Great Britain; welfare; crisis; society; history.
