Resumen

AMEZQUITA QUINTANA, Constanza. IDENTARIAN WOUNDS AND SEARCHING FOR RECOGNITION IN COLOMBIAN IMMIGRANTS IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY (1990-2010). anal.polit. [online]. 2013, vol.26, n.79, pp.73-92. ISSN 0121-4705.

The aim of this paper is to understand the dynamics of political transnationalism of the colombian immigrants in NYC and New Jersey during the period 1990-2010 from their experiences of moral suffering and misrecognition - seen as identarian wounds- as well as from their searching for recognition. The paper initiates with a general characterization of the colombian immigration to this area, then it presents some cases of stigmatization experienced by these immigrants (mainly their stigmatization as immigrants, latinos and "drug-dealers" as well as their experiences of social exclusion). Finally, it explores briefly the fragmentation that takes place inside the organizations of the colombian immigrants in this zone.

Palabras clave : Political Transnationalism; identarian wounds; stigmatization; recognition; colombian immigrants.
