The article posits the existence, from about mid-twentieth century to now, than three generations of textbooks that address the historical period known as "La Violencia" in Colombia. It also examines textbooks and narratives relating to the political situation and characteristics determinants of the publishing industry, in the way it is hidden, minimized, or denied the confrontation violent of the midcentury. At the same time, this article questions the manner in which "La Violencia" is portrayed in textbooks of political formation and in terms of political culture.
