The central argument is that the National Liberation Army (ELN) in its early years, implemented an organizational ideology that led to contradictions between peasants and city dwellers, impacting significantly on how this group developed their armed struggle, established links with society and privileged the military buildup on the political. The combination of the telluric character of the guerrillas and organizational ideology, of the guerrilla group, gave rise to a radical antagonism that marked the relationship between the social groups that made up the ELN. The executions and desertions, most students from the city, with experience in political organization, due to differences that defined a contrast between urban and rural, between political and military leadership, and between mass work and military growth.
