Abstract

RODRIGUEZ PICO, Clara Rocío  and  GARCIA GARCIA, Diva Marcela. THE 2015 COLOMBIAN ELECTIONS: POLITICAL PARTIES AND CANDIDATE SELECTION AT THE SUBNATIONAL LEVEL. anal.polit. [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.88, pp.3-27. ISSN 0121-4705.  https://doi.org/10.15446/anpol.v29n88.63515.

Given the complexity of subnational political dynamics, studies dealing with political party candidate selection at the local and regional levels of Colombian territorial organization have favored a methodological approach focused on case studies dealing with various territorial entities, political parties and the offices (primarily single district) in play. Using the subnational elections of October 2015 as a reference, this article proposes a comprehensive approach which, while having a primarily qualitative emphasis, encompasses all participating political parties and movements making it possible in each instance to establish the relationship between the electoral results and the candidate selection processes utilized.

Keywords : candidate selection; political parties; 2015 subnational elections; Colombia.
