Abstract

BUENO CIPAGAUTA, María Angélica. PUBLIC POLICIES INVOLVING RECONCILIATION: A POTENTIAL CHALLENGE TO STRUCTURING AND SUSTAINING PEACE IN COLOMBIA. anal.polit. [online]. 2017, vol.30, n.90, pp.3-24. ISSN 0121-4705.  https://doi.org/10.15446/anpol.v30n90.68301.

This article seeks to promote analysis pertaining to the need to deal with reconciliation as an integral, systemic and progressive process providing sustainability to structuring of peace following signing of the Accord between the Colombian government and the “Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, Peoples Army” (FARC-EP using its Spanish acronym). To accomplish the foregoing it is posited, under the framework of Peace Studies, that within the context of the stages of transition towards peace, reconciliation is not an abstract concept nor exclusive to victims and victimizers but rather a long term progressive process involving society as a whole articulated through public policies. From that perspective, reconciliation is transformed into an axis that traverses implementation of transitional justice mechanisms, reconstruction of social fabric and consolidation of participatory democracy.

Keywords : Reconciliation; “public policies”; peace; “transitional justice”; democracy..
