Political polarization is a growing phenomenon in democracies. This article analyzes how the relationship between political polarization and education threatens democracy today. The first part explains what political polarization is. Next, it examines the relationship between political polarization and educational level, taking as a basis existing data on the US. Subsequently, it presents some interpretive keys from philosophy and evolutionary psychology to understand this relationship between polarization, political commitment, the level of studies, and to what extent this relationship puts democracy at risk. In conclusion, the article provides some proposals to address political polarization and strengthen democracy.
