This essay seeks.to propose, by presenting the origin and persistence of the civil war in Colombia and its present intensification and degradation, that the political negotiation option can be, before it is too late, the opportunity to construct a modern democracy based on a consistent development of the expansion of the individuals real liberties as well as of social equality and justice.
