Abstract

SAENZ ROVNER, Eduardo. LA MISIÓN DEL BANCO MUNDIAL EN COLOMBIA, EL GOBIERNO DE LAUREANO GÓMEZ (1950-1951) Y LA ASOCIACIÓN NACIONAL DE INDUSTRIALES (ANDI). Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2001, vol.20, n.35, pp.245-265. ISSN 0121-4772.

This article analyzes how the economic measures implemented by resident Laureano Gómez between 1950 and 1951 impinged upon the interests of Colombian businessmen, including the large manufacturers. The latter group was part of the powerful National Association of Industrialists (ANDI) established in Medellín in 1944. Gomez‘ s economic policies were guided by the World Bank‘ srecommendations. The U.S. government, which tried to liberalize the international economy during the early postwar years, also pressured him.

Keywords : World Bank; economic policy; industrialists; postwar years.
