This paper presents a critical reflection on the process of dollarization in developing countries. It is sustained that the axioms on which this policy is based lack of solid theoretical and empirical foundation. On the contrary, it is required to introduce regulations that limit the actions of the operators of the financial markets, with the purpose of reducingg the risk that the enterprise becomes a bubble amid a speculative vortex.
