The general Walrasian model of equilibrium represents the nucleus of the neoclassical paradigm regarding economic science. Following a brief outline of its content and theoretical results, the main criticisms directed towards the model by the wide-ranging literature are then presented to discard it as a suitable basis for economic science and analysing mercantile economies.
