Abstract

CABEZAS, Sergio Raúl; LARIA, Patricia Inés  and  RAMA, Verónica. INDUSTRIALIZACIÓN Y DESINDUSTRIALIZACIÓN DE ARGENTINA EN LA SEGUNDA MITAD DEL SIGLO XX.: La paradójica validez de las leyes de Kaldor-Verdoorn. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2011, vol.30, n.55, pp.235-272. ISSN 0121-4772.

This article appeals to Kaldor-Verdoorn’s laws to observe the evolution of industry in Argentina from 1945 to 2002. It observes the industries’ ability to be the “engine of the economy”, the increasing return rate, and the productivity gains. The “cumulative causation” model was chosen as conceptual and methodological framework. Series of product, productivity, and occupation were processed using the cointegration theory from Engle and Granger. The results indicate that eh fulfillment of the laws confirms the cut short character of the import substitution and the regressive restructuring derived from the “private oriented” and “open oriented” experience.

Keywords : industry; Kaldor-Verdoorn’s laws; acumulative causation; cointegration; productivity; Argentina.
