This article carries out a systematic analysis of the components of the Spanish public urban and interurban transportation system, taking into account different urban areas. It aims at providing an overall image and, with this purpose, it sets the roles played by the various components in the general structure. It also sets the information flows, which are necessary for its operation, and finally its monitoring mechanisms.
