Abstract

FIORITO, Alejandro; GUAITA, Nahuel  and  GUAITA, Silvio. Neodesarrollismo y el tipo de cambio competitivoNeo-developmentalism and the competitive exchange rate. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2015, vol.34, n.64, pp.45-85. ISSN 0121-4772.  https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v34n64.47385.

This paper shows that variations in the real exchange rate have weak effects on the output's growth, and instead, effect specifically the income distribution, through domestic price channels. We analyze several references of international literature that argue against economic common sense about "competitive exchange rate". It shows econometrical correlations with different results to Rodrik (2008) but, with the methodological change from his panel data to the time series techniques.

Keywords : competitive real exchange rate; new developmentalism; Rodrik; paneldata; time series.
