Abstract
MOLINATTI, Florencia and PELAEZ, Enrique. Location as critical factor. An analysis of the “Mi casa, mi vida” program in Córdoba, Argentina. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2017, vol.36, n.71, pp.521-548. ISSN 0121-4772. https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v36n71.55748.
The goal of this paper is evaluate the impacts that the “Mi casa, mi vida” program had on the processes of segregation in the city of Cordoba (Argentina) at the beginning of the 21st Century. Using a spatial autocorrelation analysis of census data, we measured the levels and patterns of socioeconomic residential segregation in 2001 and 2008, and we determined to what extent the program may have contributed to these changes. The results suggest, as the living conditions of almost 8,000 people were improved, that homogeneous clusters of poverty were poorly integrated as a consequence of the location of new housing complexes.
