Abstract

PAZ, Jorge A. Persistent inequality: An exercise using data from Argentina (1993-2015). Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2017, vol.36, n.spe72, pp.207-232. ISSN 0121-4772.  https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v36n72.65876.

This study attempts to answer the following question: why does inequality for the male population in Argentina persist at high levels despite a general reduction during the period 2003 to 2011? Using this question as a basis, we analyze the determinants of wage inequality for men and assess gaps that have not yet been closed and continue to be structural features in the labor market. For data from 1993, 2002, and 2015, we apply micro-decomposition and microsimulation techniques in order to establish the relevance of each determinant of wage distribution.
