Abstract
RODRIGUEZ, Jhonathan; GARCIA MOLINA, Mario and CHICAIZA, Liliana. Happiness in public policy, a literature review. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2018, vol.37, n.73, pp.95-119. ISSN 0121-4772. https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v37n73.59586.
The article surveys the recent literature on happiness from a policy perspective. We identified a trend in order to study the effects of different policies on happiness instead of simply extrapolating policy recommendations from studies on the determinants of happiness. We predict that this trend will become more pronounced in the future. As many policy tools were made for utility, they require adaptation to promote happiness, especially in terms of the treatment of time, the use of experimental methods, and impact evaluation. Happiness studies raise important and interesting questions; however, more developments are needed for them to be use-ful in aiding public policy.
