Abstract

TOGNATO, Carlo. Commercialize the technology generated from the universities: an institutional challenge. rev.ing. [online]. 2005, n.21, pp.30-39. ISSN 0121-4993.

The commercialization of university technology is an opportunity that Colombian universities have not systematically exploited, yet. To do so, they must undergo a process of institutional adjustment and learning, thereby filling the gaps that currently prevent them from effectively and efficiently exploiting their intellectual property. Here, I will identify some of the institutional factors that contribute to successful technology commercialization. I will then suggest a procedure to fill the existing institutional gaps and will finally propose an agenda for institutional adjustment that Colombian universities may apply to prepare for the commercialization of their technologies.

Keywords : Comercialización de la tecnología; universidades; start-ups; empresas spin-off.
