Abstract

HERRERA SANTOS, Carlos Manuel. The business sector and urban pollution in Colombia. rev.ing. [online]. 2009, n.30, pp.151-160. ISSN 0121-4993.

The low quality of the environment in many Colombian cities, drives the most ambitious renovation of Colombian history in terms of pollution in areas of waste, air emissions and discharges. The initiatives involve both processes and products. The productive sector is responding through combined strategies for prevention and control, as well as extending environmental management across its value chain. However, ensuring a quality urban environment requires a broader approach that incorporates issues such as public health, planning, sectoral management, ecosystem protection and competitiveness.

Keywords : Cleaner production; ecoefficency; green business; industrial pollution; sustainable consumption; sustainable urban development; urban pollution.
