Abstract

LIZARAZO SALCEDO, Iván Alberto  and  ALFONSO CARVAJAL, Oscar Alberto. Precision Agriculture Applications in the Cultivation of Elaeis Guineensis and Hybrid O x G Oil Palms. rev.ing. [online]. 2011, n.33, pp.124-130. ISSN 0121-4993.

Precision agriculture is based on the recognition of the spatial and temporal variability of weather, soils and crops. Thus, its importance lies in providing a specific agricultural management that takes into account these differences. This article describes the vision and concepts developed for precision farming of oil palm in Colombia. In particular, there are two applications that address the limitations associated with conventional farming practices: one is connected to plantation layouts, and the other to pest and disease management.

Keywords : Crop health; geographic information systems; plantation layout; site-specific agriculture.
