The Colombian software sector is facing serious competition from foreign companies. This has led Colombian firms to pursue innovation strategies within the value chain in order to increase their international competitiveness. This article presents some of the actions taken by Colombian software companies in order to respond to the challenges posed by competition in the sector, through strategies such as the international assessment of companies, certification of people, creation of work units in intermediate cities, the development of research and innovation projects for process optimization and the strategic alliances for internationalization
