The Mayor's Office of Medellin created the Department of Safe Housing in 2014. As a consultant of this Office, I share in this article some findings on the subjects ofbuild-ing regulations in Colombia, as well as difficulties and successes with laws and departments of urban development. I also offer some suggestions for improvements
