Abstract

MARTINEZ FAJARDO, Carlos Eduardo; FORERO, Diego Fernando; CORTES, Jhon Ricardo  and  ZARAMA, Dave. Neo-institutional strategic management: the ISA case. Innovar [online]. 2003, vol.13, n.22, pp.27-38. ISSN 0121-5051.

Improving management efficiency in the electricity supply sector has repercussions on the productivity of other sectors of the Colombian economy. The current article studies strategic management from the neo-institutional historical viewpoint of a company called Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. (ISA), outlining the main elements in the company’s institutional, strategic and structural changes and the company’s performance since the middle of the 1990s. Developing organisational capacity is analysed as this has led to a clear competitive advantage in the Colombian electricity supply sector and it developing an outward-looking strategy through its relative favourable comparative position respecting companies in developed countries

Keywords : ISA; competitive advantage; electricity supply sector; neo-institutionalism; chain of values; organisational change.
