Abstract

CALDERON HERNANDEZ, Gregorio  and  SEMILLERO DE INVESTIGACION. Different management approaches in small - and medium - sized companies (pequeñas y medianas empresas - PYMEs): a contribution towards human management. Innovar [online]. 2006, vol.16, n.27, pp.57-72. ISSN 0121-5051.

Sixteen small- and medium- sized production units from the city of Manizales were studied to establish how competitiveness was being supported by human management in PYMEs; the different types of abilities most influencing factors regarding company competitiveness were considered. A systemic perspective of competitiveness was assumed from a theoretical point of view, the factors determining this were established at micro level and the different abilities promoting such factors. These skills were contrasted in the selected PYMEs and the findings were analysed using the theoretical model so constructed.

Keywords : competitiveness; management skills/approach; PYME; human management.
