MEDINA JIMENEZ, Armando  and  MEDELLIN MILAN, Pedro. The Mexican Smelting Sector's Experience Of Adopting Cleaner Production. Innovar [online]. 2006, vol.16, n.28, pp.173-186. ISSN 0121-5051.

The culture of environmental awareness arising from knowledge cleaner production is a factor favouring innovation and change in small-and-medium-sized foundries. Entrepreneurs represent the leaders who are promoting such environmental management system's action for improving environmental relationships. The present research collected evidence from a demonstrative project organised by the Centro Mexicano para la Producción más Limpia for 7 foundries during 1997 in the city of San Luis Potosí, México. Demonstrative projects represent a channel for broadcasting P+C at the beginning; however, both these and CMP+C performance have been insufficient for promoting general implementation of P+C.

Keywords : cleaner production (P+C); Centro Mexicano para la producción más limpia (CMP+L); small- and medium-sized foundries (SAMSF); environmental management system (EMS); innovation; change; culture.
