Abstract

NAVARRETE NOSSA, Jaime David; MONTOYA RESTREPO, Luz Alexandra  and  MONTOYA RESTREPO, Iván Alonso. Clusters as a model in e-business developent. Innovar [online]. 2009, vol.19, n.34, pp.35-52. ISSN 0121-5051.

The present article was aimed at establishing the potentialities and implications arising from implementing information and communications technology (ICT) clusters, such as in e-business. It also attempts defining a series of conditions for possibly applying this type of technology to such agglomerations. The methodology used in this investigation mainly relied on using secondary sources as research tools, such as databases, academic institutions, government entities (Red Colombia Compite, Gobierno en Línea, Ministerio de Comercio Exterior, Agrocadenas) and public and private organisations' web-pages (Corporación Colombia Digital), as well as consulting books, theses, documents from forums, seminars, etc. It was concluded that using e-business's technological tools in clusters led to a virtual cluster being formed; however, this concept was not understood as making geographical space virtual but rather as exploiting technology for boosting this type of agglomeration's positive externalities.

Keywords : cluster; industrial district; TIC; e-business; virtual cluster.
