Abstract

HIGUITA LOPEZ, Daimer. Dominant discourse by the leadership: negative reinforcement of human relationships. Innovar [online]. 2010, vol.20, n.36, pp.67-78. ISSN 0121-5051.

The article examines the effects on human relationships of three messages contained in the leadership discourse and aimed at getting employees to contribute towards organizational goals. These messages are: Time management, the search for excellence and the separation between the labor sphere and the personal sphere. It starts by looking at the contemporary organization as a human collective and, supported by empirical research, describes how the administrative functionalist discourse, used to benefit production, has a direct impact on social interaction, thereby generating a negative effect on social links among employees at two Colombian companies. This result represents a contradiction between the Human Relations discourse and that of the leadership.

Keywords : Social interaction; discourse of the leadership; formal structure; time management; productivity; personal and labor sphere.
