Abstract

VERRE, Vladimiro; PETELSKI, Natalia  and  MILESI, Darío. Cooperation and appropriation strategies in the high technology sector: the case of an argentinian biopharmaceutical company. Innovar [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.spe, pp.41-53. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v24n1spe.47545.

This article presents the results of a case study of Delta Biotech S.A., an Argentinian SME in the high technology biopharmaceutical sector. The analysis suggests that the strategy used by the firm to appropriate the results of technological innovation is based on the articulation of different mechanisms. As the innovation process is carried out with the support of external knowledge sources derived from the public sector , the strategy should take into account the risks associated with this particular aspect of innovation. Public-private cooperation for innovation generates varied effects on each one of the appropriation mechanisms and, therefore, the specific characteristics these assume are important when it comes to evaluating their effects of the company's appropriation strategy.

Keywords : Appropriation; innovation; cooperation; biotechnology.
