MONTOYA RESTREPO, Iván Alonso y MONTOYA RESTREPO, Luz Alexandra. Understanding the Concept of Emergence from the Contributions by Holland, Kauffman and Andrade. Innovar [online]. 2015, vol.25, n.57, pp.27-43. ISSN 0121-5051.
Evolutionary processes are linked to the problem of emergence, which is usually understood as an "occurrence" explained through different conceptions. On the one hand, in Holland's research program about complex adaptive systems (SCA, in spanish), the adaptation of agents will generate complexity and emergencies. According to Kauffman's contributions, it is suggested that the biosphere builds itself through the emergence and the persistent coevolution of autonomous agents that perform work cycles. Finally, Andrade proposes the role of form as a concept that solves polarities between digital and analogical information, and the role of the record and the understanding of information in emergence of new possibilities for organization. This work explores these contributions and presents a joint vision of the three approaches on emergence.
