Professional work careers have increasingly become more diverse and tend to be performed in multiple organizational scenarios where professional career paths undergo frequent changes and transitions. In such a context, individuals assume more responsibility in the development of their own professional careers, looking for obtaining new abilities and knowledge that assure their future employability; enrolling in Management programs is an example of this. In this sense, this work studies the impact of Management graduate education in career transitions. Specifically, transitions made by graduates of one of the most prestigious Master in Business Administration (MBA) programs in Argentina are explored. Typologies of career transitions and the motives for their occurrence are identified based on the foundations of Grounded Theory. Our results expose certain specific patterns in professional career transitions (role and organizational transitions) that interviewees link with their MBA studies, particularly, in terms of time and perceived impact. With the observed results, an integrating theoretical model that distinguishes career transitions depending on the moment they were executed and the type of transition is developed.
