This study places neglected micro-enterprises within the framework of poverty and vulnerability indicators in Mexico and determines its Social Net Present Value as an approach to the adequate way of measuring their profitability. Results allow to confirm the hypothesis of positive social profitability of this type of projects. Additionally, the evidence shows that the state of vulnerability of this businesses decreases as they receive support. Conclusions point that the decision by the Mexican Government of providing support in terms of financing and training is appropriate, since this contributes to mitigate the condition of poverty of those who promote this kind of enterprises, although these do not always reach the level of income expected in a market of competitive work.
