Innovar [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.66, pp.11-27. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v27n66.66708.

The capacity to absorb knowledge in order to generate innovations has become the key to success for companies to address competitiveness. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of knowledge absorption capacity on the innovation of companies within the petrochemical sector in Tamaulipas, Mexico. For this, a questionnaire was applied to a sample of 96 companies in Reynosa, city of Tamaulipas. In a first section, an exploratory factorial analysis was carried out, from which two dimensions of the absorption capacity and two dimensions of innovation were identified. In a later stage, linear regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. Results indicate that knowledge absorption capacity directly affects innovation.

Keywords : Absorption capacity; knowledge; innovation; petrochemical sector.
