Abstract

PACHECO, Diego Augusto de Jesus; REIS, Cleiton Eduardo dos  and  JUNG, Carlos Fernando. AGILE MANUFACTURING STRATEGY FOR OUTSOURCED FOOTWEAR PRODUCTION. Innovar [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.75, pp.99-118. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v30n75.83260.

This study aims to propose and apply a manufacturing strategy method based on Agile Manufacturing principles into an outsourced footwear company. Methodological procedures include a bibliographic research on Design Science Research, which proposes a new artifact that is applied in the case studied. Questionnaires were used as the data collection technique, and content analysis was applied in order to analyze the information. The research proposes a tailored application method for the company studied, following a logical process of continuous improvement. The method considers the strategic objectives addressed by Agile Manufacturing and contemplates continuous improvement tools. As a result, during the period analyzed, we observed reductions of 52% in the rework index, 74% in the setup time and 41% in the lead time. Improvements in efficiency, productivity and punctuality were also obtained. The study itself brings a unique method in theory that can be used by other companies, contributing significantly to achieve an agile production environment.

Keywords : Agile manufacturing; design science research; manufacturing strategy; outsourcing; footwear industry.
