Abstract

CHANLAT, Jean-François. MANAGEMENT AND SUBJECTIVITY AT WORK IN THE EURO-AMERICAN WORLD: THREE MAJOR POSITIONS ON THE SUBJECT. Innovar [online]. 2021, vol.31, n.79, pp.27-41.  Epub Feb 17, 2021. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v31n79.91958.

This article aims to show the place occupied by subjectivity within Western business thought. Based on the main works on this subject, since its origins in Europe and North America, this work presents the main theoretical positions that can be extracted from this body of literature. After briefly defining what is understood by management and presenting the evolution of business thinking in the Euro-American geographical area, we will study the place that subjectivity occupies in this region's business insights, as well as the three main positions that can be identified: no considerations, consideration towards financial performance, and consideration towards emancipation. In conclusion, this work underlines the importance of teaching an expanded anthropological model of managerial action in order to restore the importance of subjectivity, both at the level of management practices and management training and research.

Keywords : Anthropology; management; psychodynamics; sociology work; subjectivity.
