VALENCIA AGUDELO, Germán Darío; GUTIERREZ LOAIZA, Alderid y JOHANSSON, Sandra. Negotiating Peace: A Literature Review of Negotiated Resolutions to Internal Armed Conflicts. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2012, n.40, pp.149-174. ISSN 0121-5167.
Following World War I, an academic interest surged worldwide in studying negotiated resolutions to armed conflicts. Today, almost a century afterwards, we have a comprehensive and long-term vision of peace agreements that take into account the causes of the conflict, as well as the factors necessary to maintain peace in the post-conflict scenario. The objective of this article is to present a literature review of the evolution of negotiated peace agreements of internal armed conflicts, highlighting the diverse perspectives, models and types of analysis to study these processes. In conclusion, the study presents some final recommendations to increase the probability of success in these negotiated peace processes.
