Abstract

MUNOZ-BELLERIN, Manuel  and  CORDERO-RAMOS, Nuria. Theatrical Collective Creation. The Method of Social Action and Resistance with the Group of Homelessness in Seville, Spain. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2017, n.50, pp.42-61. ISSN 0121-5167.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.espo.n50a03.

Through this article, we present theatre as a key tool in the processes involving the fight and resistance of those groups that are socially excluded by the hegemonic logic, such as the group of homeless. In Spain, particularly at Seville, the predominant approaches and practices of social action aimed at those groups usually combine a welfare approach. Moreover, those may perpetuate the stigma. Thanks to the research that has been conducted and the experiences shared with groups of homeless at Seville, we conclude that theatre, a tool of joint creation, becomes a proposal of resistance and empowerment for those who take part in it. Therefore, the contribution of this method (from an appropriate adaptation) is an example of the emancipatory dimension of theatre from a social and political point of view. Finally, the experience here described is a pioneer and innovative one in the Spanish context.
