Resumen
RESTREPO-PARRA, Adrián. The Right to Consume Marijuana. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2017, n.50, pp.62-81. ISSN 0121-5167. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.espo.n50a04.
This article reflects on the legal recognition that the Colombian State does of the citizen’s right to the consumption of drugs like marijuana and the real conditions to exercise it. From an ethnographic and critical perspective of the war on drugs, the article shows, on the one hand, how the legal consumption of marijuana in a context of drug policy marked by prohibition, which prohibits production and sale of cannabis, brings with it a series of difficulties that in fact deny the right of the citizen to consume marijuana. This situation of exclusion of marijuana consumers, on the other hand, has played a central role for consumers to form cannabis organizations and act publicly to claim and exercise the right to consume marijuana, or the right to decide what happens in and to one’s own body.
