Abstract

AGUILAR BLANCAS, Carlos Alberto. Scope and Perspectives of the Parliamentary Control in Mexican Democracy. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2017, n.51, pp.36-56. ISSN 0121-5167.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.espo.n51a03.

The article analyses the democratic will of the society and the political actors in order to visualize the democratic future of Mexico. This article discusses the institutional process of Mexico, in which the Parliament has an important role to play. From a theoretical-methodological approach and a documentary review, the article establishes that the strengthening of parliamentary control in Mexico will help to publicly prosecute the actions of the executive power. This will provide the opportunity to expose the mistakes and actions of negligence committed by the Government through the criticism and censure carried out by the opposition. This mechanism offers a way to watch over the Government in order to prevent it from doing something wrong, and from possible abuses. This research aims to evidence that democracy requires a shared responsibility of the public authorities and the society on the topics of general interest.

Keywords : Political System; Political Institutions; Government Control; Parliamentarism; Presidentialism; Mexico.
