Abstract

MARIN GONZALEZ, Keren Xiomara. Peace Building and Community Violence. Case Study: Sierra de La Macarena (Meta-Colombia). Estud. Polit. [online]. 2017, n.51, pp.196-217. ISSN 0121-5167.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.espo.n51a10.

Following the peace agreements signed by the National Government and the FARC-EP, one of the main challenges for the country is the consolidation of peace in the territories, mainly in those locations where violence has been used as a political tool and within the same community. This article aims to understand the local dynamics of violence and the different victimization processes originated within the communities through the analysis of some cases and testimonies collected during an ethnographic study carried out at the Sierra de la Macarena (Meta). This study exposes the dynamics of community violence and their effect upon the social-network. Based on these considerations, the author evidences some limits for the construction of peace in this region, and proposes the articulation of the transitional justice and the local justice as alternative to deal with these scenarios of violence.

Keywords : Community Violence; Horizontal Victimization; Transitional Justice; Local Justice; Armed Conflict; Colombia.
