Abstract

ARISTIZABAL BOTERO, Carlos Andrés; CARDENAS AVENDANO, Óscar Manuel  and  RENGIFO GONZALEZ, Claudia Jannet. Displacement, Trajectories, and Urban Settlement. The Case of the Commune 3 Manrique, Medellin, 1970-2010. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2018, n.53, pp.126-147. ISSN 0121-5167.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.espo.n53a06.

This article explains how the displacement and migration routes intersect in the process of settlement of the city of Medellin, starting from the problematization of the displacement in the legislative, organizational and conceptual spheres, in the case of the districts of the high strip of Manrique (Comuna 3) in the mobility processes that constituted their consolidation as urban territories, and from a review of the rural and urban trajectories that have reconfigured their settlement. The study is based on qualitative —testimonies and interviews— and quantitative information sources —characterizations by social organizations of victims, local NGOs, the Victims Unit and the University of Antioquia— collected between 2010 and 2015 in the territory. The main conclusion is that the trajectories intersect rural and urban routes, which structure and render the analysis of the effects of displacement in the configuration of the city more complex. Evidencing and monitoring these trajectories allows to understand the phenomenon and the development of actions that involve sociocultural knowledge for their intervention.
