DE BERRAZUETA, JUAN MANUEL GÓMEZ  and  DE BERRAZUETA, JOSÉ RAMÓN. FISH CONSUMPTION, OMEGA-3 AND CARDIOVASCULAR RISK FACTORS. rev.fac.med [online]. 2007, vol.15, n.2, pp.218-224. ISSN 0121-5256.

These benefits owe principally to its fatty acids containing omega-3, which use as a diet supplement has become popular during the recent years. Though not well-known, his mechanisms of action include the regulation of vasoactives molecules, inhibition of the platelet aggregation, reduction of the inflammation and the reduction of cardiovascular risk factors such as the C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Homocistein, triglycerides and cholesterol.

Keywords : mediterranean diet; fatty acids omega-3; endothelium; cardiovascular disease.
