The Syndrome of Burnout is one of the manifestations that most affects the health professionals; with diverse consequences for them and their surroundings. It is one of the most recognized causes of job absenteeism, low quality care and laboral lawsuits. The aim of this study was to find the prevalence of the Syndrome among the residents of the medical surgical specialties of university hospitals, as well as its relation with sociodemographic and labor variables and the Psychological wellbeing. The present study of analytical prevalence included a sample of 138 residents to whom the Brief Questionnaire of Burnout (CBB) was administered to measure the level of the Syndrome. This questionnaire consists of three dimensions in working conditions: causes of Burnout (CBO); Syndrome (SBO) and consequences (CON). 12,6% of the residents presented a high level of Burnout. The statistical analysis showed a negative association between the Burnout and the psychological wellbeing and between the latter and long working hours. Statistically significant associations with the sociodemographic and labor variables were not found.
