BETANCOURT OCAMPO, DIANA and ANDRADE PALOS, PATRICIA. Parental Control and Emotional and Behavioral Problems in Adolescents. Rev. colomb. psicol. [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.1, pp.27-41. ISSN 0121-5469.
The purpose of this research project was to determine whether gender made a difference with respect to the effects of psychological and behavioral parental control on the emotional and behavioral problems in male and female adolescents. A non-random sample of 587 Mexico City public high school students with a mean age of 13.8 was selected, of which 46.8% were male and 53.2% female. The Maternal and Paternal Control Perception Scale for adolescents and the adjusted version of the Youth Self-report were used. The overall results showed that both maternal and paternal psychological control had a greater influence than behavioral control on the presence of emotional and behavioral problems.
