CARNEIRO DE ALCANTARA, STEFANIA; PEREIRA DE ABREU, DESIRÉE y ARAUJO FARIAS, ALESSANDRA. Homeless People: From Social Exclusion Trajectories to Emancipatory Processes Aimed at the Creation of Awareness, Identity, and a Sense of Belonging. Rev. colomb. psicol. The study seeks to understand the trajectories of social exclusion and their effects on social identity on the basis of Communitarian Social Psychology categories such as awareness, identity and sense of belonging in adult homeless people living in residential care facilities in the city of Fortaleza (Brazil). A qualitative methodology was used, including interviews, life stories, and discourse analysis, focusing on variables such as time of permanence in the community and the existence of family contacts. Results show that social exclusion trajectories relate to the breakup of work, family, and social ties. The Community Living Experience is proposed as a psychosocial intervention capable of strengthening identity and sense of belonging.
