Resumen

GONCALVES ZAPPE, JANA  y  DALBOSCO DELL'AGLIO, DÉBORA. Risk and Protection in the Development of Adolescents Living in Different Environments: Family and Institutionalization. Rev. colomb. psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.25, n.2, pp.289-305. ISSN 0121-5469.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcp.v25n2.51256.

This study investigated risk conducts and associated factors in adolescents from different environments; 92 adolescents of both sexes between the ages of 11 and 19 participated. The results showed that adolescents living with their families adopted less risky behaviors and had a more favorable environment for their development. Institutionalized adolescents suffered more intra-family violence, perceived their relationship with their family more negatively, had lower self-esteem and engaged in more suicidal behavior. Those undergoing socio-educational measures experienced more stressful events and showed more antisocial behavior, use of substances and risky sexual behavior. A healthy family coexistence must be promoted for positive development in adolescence and qualified intervention must be provided in institutionalization situations to overcome the vulnerabilities present in these environments.

Palabras clave : Adolescence; institutionalization; risk factors; protection factors; risk behaviors.
