Abstract

This document begins with a bibliographic review on the activity of tanneries, at a national and international level, with which differentiating factors are known about the productive processes carried out in the sector. It is intended to know the methodology used in the production of leather worldwide, in Colombia, and in particular, in Villapinzón (Cundinamarca), in order to obtain a SWOT analysis (weaknesses, opportunities, strengths and threats), a diagnostic tool that it is applied to the tanneries investigated. Likewise, the current normativity in Colombia is mentioned, which present relevant aspects to take into account to increase the competitiveness of tanneries.
