Abstract

BARRIOS-PATERNINA, E  and  MERCADO-GOMEZ, J. Useful Plants in the Corregimiento Santa Inés and Ride San Felipe (San Marcos, Sucre, Colombia). Ciencia en Desarrollo [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.2, pp.131-144. ISSN 0121-7488.

This study determined the ethnobotanical use of plants in relation to their habitants age and sex, and their vegetable parts, in two communities of San Marcos Sucre-Colombia. A total of 285 inquiries were carried out, finding 85 useful species, which were included within the medicinal, edible and ornamental cathegories, being Rutaceae the plant with the greatest number of useful species. It was determined that women are more interested in medicinal and ornamental species, while the male in the edible ones; in addition the Rutaceae and Solanaceae, are edible. and the Myrtaceae, Lamiaceae, and others are medicinal. Equally we found that there are edible roots and fruits, medicinal leaves and ornamental plants. Origanumvulgare presented the greatest UTI, because of its multiple utilities in several categories, and according to the UST. No plant used as medicinal was cited in various uses, though each one only possess a specific use.
