Abstract

GOMEZ Z., Rocío  and  GONZALEZ M., Julián. Technology and urban "malestar" among youngsters: Celebrating the useless and the emergence of freed work. Nómadas [online]. 2008, n.28, pp.82-92. ISSN 0121-7550.

In this essay we suggest that there would be an invaluable connection between the subjective and emotional engagement of the young users of the Internet, who invest time and desire in realizing a varied set of minor works (emailing, images of themselves in Facebook, pieces of music, managing an online logbook), and the malaises of the urban well-being. These minor works incarnate and objectivate the exigencies of free work -frequently repressed, postponed, administrated or regulated- that some of the new technological repertoires vigorously canalize and mobilize.

Keywords : young people; information and communication technologies; politics; urban culture.
